Rescuing human lives is the most important task of the Lahti Lifeboat Association. Association has three lifeboats, Pv Vesijärvi (located in Padasjoki), Teemu Hiltunen and Kuutinkari (both in Lahti).

Lahti Lifeboat Association was founded in 1964 as a local association of the Finnish Lifeboat Society. The first chairman was Antti Blåfield. Present chairmen are Jorma Lindqvist and Antti Hasari. We have app. 400 members, wherefrom about 100 are active crewmembers. The entire crew is voluntary.

Lifeboats are equipped for SAR (search and rescue) and first aid missions.
